The abstract submission system will open in August 2026 for the 45th Annual PAMA International Symposium.

All professionals and students are encouraged to submit an abstract. Submissions are not restricted to PAMA members. For information about what type of abstract you should submit, please download and read the guidelines below.

You may ONLY be the submitting author on ONE research or educational abstract. If you would like to submit an additional abstract, it must either be a panel or a workshop abstract.

Authors are responsible for submitting abstracts that follow the published guidelines.

Please download and read the guidelines before submitting your abstract.

Prior to submitting an abstract, determine your submission type:

Research

The RESEARCH abstract submission is designed for works that are primarily hypothesis driven and involve data collection, intervention, and an analysis or synthesis of data based on your hypothesis. This research can be in any of the scientific disciplines including but not limited to basic research, applied research, clinical research, and descriptive science research. Studies using robust qualitative inquiring methods are also appropriate for this type of submission.

Education

The EDUCATIONAL abstract submission is designed for projects that focus on teaching or informing the audience of a problem or concept related to an artistic discipline. Also, works that are case studies or case series should be submitted using this educational submission format.

Workshop

The WORKSHOP abstract submission is designed for projects that focus on teaching or informing the audience of a problem or concept related to an artistic discipline in an interactive manner. Workshops are meant to be an interactive lecture with live demonstration or audience participation. Authors are to strive toward 50% interactivity for the time allotted.

Panel

The PANEL abstract submission is designed for either research or educational based projects. A panel will consist of one panel chair and three panelists. All four of these individuals (panel chair, panelist 1, 2, and 3) MUST be different people and be identified on the abstract submission at the time you submit your abstract to be considered. The panel abstract submission is limited to 350 words. The submitting author is responsible for entering ALL information at the time of submission. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Late Breaking Abstracts:

A limited number of oral and poster presentation slots for RESEARCH or EDUCATIONAL presentations ONLY will be reserved for ‘Late Breaking Abstracts‘. These are abstracts for which relevant data/results are expected to become available in the time period between November 1st, 2025 and March 15th, 2026. NEW THIS YEAR: A provisional abstract containing the Rationale, Purpose, and Methods/Approach must be submitted by the November 1st, 2025 deadline; please select the ‘Results/Conclusions to be submitted by March 15th, 2026 Late Breaking Deadline’ option in the online form. Provisional offers to present abstracts with late breaking results/data will be extended in January/February for planning purposes, contingent on satisfactory results/data and conclusions being submitted by the March 15th, 2026 Late Breaking Deadline.

The submission system for the AGB Young Investigator Award will open in August 2026 for the 45th Annual PAMA International Symposium.

The Alice G. Brandfonbrener Young Investigator Award, (AGB Award), is given to an investigator in recognition of recently completed original research.  The recipient is either still enrolled or is a recent graduate of an educational, training or residency program.  The research and paper is usually the result of one of the first significant studies made by the author.  The research and paper is not previously published to be considered for this award.

A $300 honorarium is awarded to the recipient of the AGB Award.  In addition, a stipend is provided for travel expenses to the Symposium to present the paper.

At the Symposium, the time allotment for presentation is 25 minutes for the lecture and an additional 5 minutes for questions.  The President of PAMA will introduce the award winner and present the award.
