PAMA Notes - June 3, 2014

Dear Performing Arts Medicine Community:

It is with great sadness that we share this information with all of our members, past and present.  We learned last night that our beloved Alice Brandfonbrener passed away on Saturday, May 31st, after a long health battle. Alice, along with Dick Lederman, had the vision over 30 years ago to see what was needed in terms of the practice of performing arts medicine and blazed the trail for all of us and created the foundation we have today.  She was an amazing and intelligent woman whose spirit along with her smile was infectious. No one was immune to her charm.

Her family will be planning a memorial service later in the year and will keep you all posted on that event. As part of this year’s Annual Symposium, taking place in a few weeks, we are planning a remembrance fit for Alice and the wonderful person she was, celebrating her life and legacy.  Those of you joining us in Snowmass, we hope you will participate and contribute stories and memories to her book that we will have there and will present to her family following the Symposium.  Whether you will be attending the Symposium or not, If any of you have pictures, video, or anything you would like to share with us to be included in our video tribute or in the memory book, please send those items to Dorry Allen at services@artsmed.org.

Alice’s family set up the following email to offer a place for everyone to send their thoughts and condolences and have asked us all to use this email as opposed to any direct calls or emails.  Thank you for respecting their wishes.
